Meet our Managing Director

Charles (Charlie) Elders founded Avoca Insurance Brokers in 2005 with an aspiration to establish a brokerage that lived the culture of exceptional service, built on trust and respect.

For Charlie, being a good corporate citizen is important to him as he believes profits can still be made while caring for others. He is passionate about people, health and wellbeing, life in general, the environment and making a difference, and to that extent is actively committed and has been involved with the Annual Ride for Youth Focus Charity.

Avoca has committed for a number of years to be a team sponsor of The Hawaiian Ride for Youth. A ride of over 700 kilometres from Albany to Perth to raise funds for Youth Focus, a local charity committed to the prevention of youth suicide, depression and self- harm.

Our founder Charles Elders has been one of the riders every year since 2005, training hard for the actual ride and also spending time organising an event each year to raise funds for the cause.

In May 2010, Charles was appointed to the “Board of Youth Focus”, and in 2012 he was inducted into the ‘Hall of Fame’ for his continued dedication and commitment and took on the role of “Chairman of the Ride for Youth” for approximately 2 years.

He is looking forward to completing his 18th ride in 2022!

Aside from being a genuine businessman and a serious rider, Charlie enjoys his time with his family. His wife and fellow rider Mary Hackett currently the director of LNG Marine Fuel Institute, Son Ronan and Daughter Tara certainly play a big role in his life.
